Peer Review Process

The Journal of Software Engineering and Computing (JSEC) follows a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scientific relevance of the articles published in the journal.

Initial Editorial Evaluation

All submitted manuscripts are first evaluated by the editorial team to determine whether they fit the scope and objectives of the journal. During this stage, the manuscript is also reviewed for basic quality standards, formatting requirements, and ethical compliance.

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s scope or basic academic standards may be rejected at this stage without external review.

Double-Blind Peer Review

JSEC uses a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the evaluation process. This approach ensures an unbiased and objective assessment of the manuscript.

Each manuscript that passes the initial editorial screening is sent to two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant research area.

Reviewer Evaluation

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including:

  • Originality and contribution to the field
  • Scientific and methodological rigor
  • Clarity of presentation and organization
  • Relevance to the journal’s scope
  • Adequacy of references and citations

Reviewers provide detailed comments and recommendations to assist the editor in making the final decision.

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editor may decide one of the following outcomes:

  • Accept the manuscript for publication
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Request major revisions and resubmission
  • Reject the manuscript

Authors receiving revision requests must address the reviewers’ comments and submit a revised version of the manuscript.

Final Publication

Once a manuscript is accepted, it proceeds to the production stage, where formatting, proofreading, and final preparation for publication are completed before the article is officially published in the journal.

Additional Review Policies

The average time for the peer review process is between 2 and 6 weeks, depending on the availability of reviewers and the complexity of the manuscript.

All reviewers are required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding submitted manuscripts and must declare any potential conflicts of interest before accepting the review.

Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation to ensure that all comments and recommendations have been adequately addressed.

The final decision regarding publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief, based on the reviewers’ reports and the journal’s editorial standards.
