Peer Review Process
The Journal of Communication Analysis (JCA) follows a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic relevance of the articles published in the journal.
Initial Editorial Evaluation
All submitted manuscripts are first evaluated by the editorial team to determine whether they align with the scope and objectives of the journal. During this stage, the manuscript is also reviewed for basic quality standards, formatting requirements, and ethical compliance.
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s scope or minimum academic standards may be rejected at this stage without external peer review.
Double-Blind Peer Review
JCA uses a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the evaluation process. This approach ensures an unbiased and objective assessment of the manuscript.
Each manuscript that passes the initial editorial screening is sent to two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant research area.
Reviewer Evaluation
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several criteria, including:
- Originality and contribution to communication studies
- Academic and methodological rigor
- Clarity of writing and structure
- Relevance to the journal’s thematic scope
- Adequacy and currency of references
Reviewers provide detailed comments and recommendations to support the editorial decision-making process.
Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editor may decide one of the following outcomes:
- Accept the manuscript for publication
- Accept with minor revisions
- Request major revisions and resubmission
- Reject the manuscript
Authors receiving revision requests must address all reviewer comments and submit a revised version of the manuscript within the established timeframe.
Final Publication
Once a manuscript is accepted, it proceeds to the production stage, where formatting, copyediting, and proofreading are completed prior to its official publication in the journal.
